State of Washington- Department of Ecology

Application Overview
The Department of Ecology of the State of Washington has successfully imaged enabled Documents and Maps making them available electronically to individuals desiring access to such information. The Department of Ecology decided to augment this library by contracting with FNTI to convert Water Rights documents from Microfilm to image.

Scope of Work
FNTI converted 2,000,000 images from microfilm and indexed them to a complex specification keeping with the decades old filing system unique to the Department. This involved FNTI staff becoming familiar with a Document Grouping schema that enabled the indexing of Document Types by the position they were originally microfilmed in. An indexing structure which is open to interpretation is always a difficult task and thus the Department had experts from their Water Rights Division onsite at FNTI to monitor the projects accuracy and progress.

Result
FNTI completed the contract within the allotted timescale of 12 weeks. The State were meticulous in their QC process.
